CEFERD Centres

Center for Family Health Research and Development (CEFERD) is located in Kisumu, Western Kenya.

Since its establishment , CEFERD has been on the world map as the site of ground-breaking research focusing on infectious diseases of medical importance. Specifically, the Centre has carried out cutting-edge research focusing on trials on the efficacy of drugs, emergence of drug and vector resistance, epidemiology, immunology, molecular biology, vector biology, climate and human health, characterization of malaria vaccine candidate antigens, malaria vaccine trials.

Center for Family Health Research and Development (CEFERD) is located in Kisumu, Western Kenya. We also operate in other counties listed below.

CEFERD is a research organization that conducts clinical trials, NCDs and maternal and child health studies. Currently we have several upcoming projects, stay tuned

  • Malaria Research Division - Malaria remains an important public health problem and an impediment to social and economic development in sub-Saharan Africa. In Kenya malaria is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality and 80 percent of the population is at risk.
  • HIV Research Division - Centre For Family Health Research and Development (CEFERD) in collaboration with JOOTRH established the HIV Research Division in 2022 to spearhead HIV prevention and treatment research within the Nyanza Region in Kenya, an area with the greatest burden of HIV/AIDS in the country.
